Upcoming Events and Deadlines 

  1. Next PTSA Meeting - Feb 5th at 6p.  Our next General Meeting is February 5th at 6 pm via Zoom. You can see all meeting dates here and notes from past meetings are here.

  1. Campus Clean-up - Feb 22nd at 10-3p.  Please join us on Saturday, February 22nd from 10a to 3p for our annual Lowell Beautification Day. This is a rare chance for parents and family to spend time on the Lowell campus, and a great opportunity to keep our school looking beautiful.  Register here and we look forward to seeing many of you for a very fun day.

  2. Save the Date: Mid-Year Data Review - Feb 5th. Reminder to mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 5th at 2:45 for Lowell’s Mid-year Data Review presentation and Community Input Survey. (Links will be shared at the end of the month.)  

  3. English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) and African American Parent Advisory Committee (AAPAC) Meetings - Feb 5th and Feb 7th. These meetings are important for community feedback and brainstorming as part of the school planning process. If you are unfamiliar with these committees and their work, please see this excellent reporting in The Lowell related to ELAC.

  1. Save the Dates: Spring College Workshops - Feb 22-23rd and March 22-23rd.  Our parent-organized SAT and ACT boot camp events are a staple in Lowell’s college preparedness programs and our college center team has bootcamps and prep series scheduled for the Spring. See our Committee Updates section below for additional information and registration.

Fundraising - Bird Bash

Help make this year’s Third Annual Bird Bash a twittering success. You can help by contributing an auction item! Here are some ideas:

Donate: 

● Have season tickets to the sports or cultural event? Share a pair! 

● Member of the Olympic Club? Offer a round of golf! 

● Own a vacation rental in the Bay Area, Tahoe, or Hawaii? Donate a stay! 

● Have a contact at a resort, hotel, or winery? Send it to us! 

● Own or work at a restaurant? Send us a gift card! 

Host: 

● Host a poker night for 10 

● Host a cooking class 

● Host a [fill in the blank] event at your home 

Contribute: If you own a restaurant, bar or food-related business, we would love donations of food and drinks for the event :)

PTSA Committee Updates

Our committees are doing amazing work to support our Lowell community!  We thought you should be aware of the various programs supported by your Lowell PTSA.

  1. Grants Program. A major use of PTSA funds is to fulfill grant requests from the school community. The Grants team meets monthly to review and approve grant requests. Here are the details of the grants approved in the third grant cycle of this school year, for a total maximum cost of $8,042.50.  This cycle we supported the 9th grade English program, purchased science kits, provided funding for the baking and crochet clubs, and purchased master locks to help with security and safety of unused lockers on campus.

  2. College Center.  Our college center team has set the dates for this semester’s workshops to get Juniors well on their way!  Mark your calendars.

SAT & ACT bootcamps:

  • SAT Boot Camp (virtual): Sat & Sun, Feb 22-23 from 9:30a - 12:30p. Register here 

  • ACT Boot Camp (virtual): Sat & Sun, March 22-23 from 9:30a - 12:30p. Register here

SAT & ACT Free Drop-In Office Hours

  • SAT Drop-In: Tues & Thurs, Feb 25 & 27 between 8-9p. 

  • ACT Drop-In: Tues & Thurs, March 25 & 27 between 8-9p. 

College Prep Series:

  • Monday, April 28: 6:30 - 8:00 pm (common application and supplemental)

  • Thursday, May 1: 6:30-8:00 pm (UCs and activities)

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Nomination Committee: It’s hard to believe, but we need to start thinking about the PTSA board for NEXT school year! We are looking for three PTSA members who can volunteer over the next month or so to put together a slate of potential officers for next year. You can see a description on our website here.  

  • Installing/moving monitors:  If you’re handy, we need you! We have a couple of monitors that need moving and installing on campus. It would be ideal if we can get these moved before Campus Beautification Day.

  • Chaperone an event: LSA is planning more events & volunteers help keep costs low.

PTSA Reminders

  1. Annual Fundraising update. Donate today! We are about halfway to our goal of $250K. Please contribute generously so we can achieve all of our goals. You can also set up a monthly donation schedule. 

  2. Please join or renew your membership.  We are currently at ⅔ of the way to our goal of 1000 members this year.  Membership is only $12.  Please join or renew today.
