URGENT Call for Leaders & Volunteers
The LPTSA has been operating without a full Leadership Board for the past two years. Of course, the pandemic kept our students remote and our programs limited, and in this past transition year back to in-person instruction, events and programs continued to be limited. All signs indicate that schools will continue to be in person and LPTSA activity can resume in full.
Unless members of our community step up and join the Board or volunteer to work on committees we are facing the end of the following programs associated with these Board positions:
Executive Vice President - leadership continuity, institutional knowledge, mentoring from current President
Financial secretary - Meeting minutes
Auditor - Financial audit for the LPTSA
Parliamentarian - Ensures that the LPTSA runs in accordance with Bylaws and conducts election
Hospitality - Back to School Night, 8th Grade Night, Staff Appreciation events, all other events
Diversity & Inclusion - Joint effort work with the Administration, Alumni, and SBC to implement community-wide programs to address equity; organize opportunities to celebrate our diversity and create a community of belonging
Family Resource - Turkey Raffle and other support programs for families
B2B - running the B2B bookstore on campus and web store
Staff Representative - represent the teacher and staff perspective
College Readiness - SAT Prep, Holistic Review, Personal Statement preparation, and other college readiness programs
Membership - promote membership and attendance to LPTSA activities
Lowell Fund - lead effort to fund the LPTSA Grants program, events, and all LPTSA activity
Legislative Advocacy - lead advocacy efforts within Lowell, SFUSD, and beyond
LPTSA Board Members include, Parents, Teachers, Students, and other community members. We invite interested, solutions-oriented leaders to apply.
Please let us know if you are interested in volunteer opportunities, joining a committee, and about your interests. Fill out this quick 2-minute survey
Reporting Incidents to Administration (any incident)
Step 1: Please complete a written statement using Lowell's student incident form (link). You may complete this statement while speaking to a counselor or trusted adult or on your own.
Students and families should review their rights and responsibilities listed in the Student and Family Handbook (link). This is a valuable resource for our students to understand their rights to a safe and supportive school campus. As a reminder, if you experience any form of bullying or hate motivated discrimination, please report it immediately to your teacher, counselor or Assistant Principal Liverpool (liverpoolk@sfusd.edu)
